Well I think it would be pretty cool if he was sending anonymous messages to him. Could be that Itachi warned Jiraiya beforehand about the genjutsu thing but I doubt that's the case.

Jiraiya was investigated the akatsuki for years so does anyone else think that itachi was the Jiraiya's mole in the organization
