First please try to read to the end before posting something, and also say what you believe, my opinion may not be right.

Just because Itachi's smart doesnt make all he says true. I just read a post where someone posted a manga scan where Itachi says only one who is acknowledged can become Hokage, so that means Sasuke with his current ambition can never be.

People look up to Itachi with sympathy, because he had no choice but to do what he did. In his wisdom he massacred his entire clan which would include children younger than his own brother. He sacrificed his life to protect Sasuke and left the bijuu and the rinnegan in the hands of the akatsuki and even letting someone he thought to be Madara remain alive. Be realistic for a moment, Itachi's idea of Hokage wouldn't work in NV. Hashirama clearly stated that the Hokage is one who protects the village from the shadows, stands out no matter the circumstances as long as the end results in the safety of the village. Kakashi's father protected his comrades from their own death even if it means him dying, not killing them instead. Neji's father did the same. Itachi was born right in the middle of war. He of all people should understand that a hokage at certain times must make decisions his followers would not accept, even if it means not being acknowledged by them. A leader who does all his followers wants cannot 'lead' them. The idea of a leader being accepted before he leads is what has caused Itachi, Shisui, Kakashi's dad, the entire uchiha and many others their lives for an unnecessary cause.
Sasuke's killing of the Gokage most likely isn't the best decision, but they would never agree to his 'revolution', that's why he wants to kill them before releasing the IT. Surely they are not nearly as strong as he is, but clearly not to cause further unnecessary fights he wants to do this. Naruto's freeing of the bijuus will never bring stability, peace will only come for a short while and then someone like Orochimaru, who clearly isn't bad just has goals to achieve and master all justus will come for them. People will want to do things their way. Both these goals do not bring 'true peace' the way we all want it to be.
And besides this, Itachi himself knows he isn't perfect, that's why he asks Sasuke to learn from his mistakes and make sure they he doesn't make the same.

Itachi lived a life of lies and he did this because of the current state of things, the balance of power, not to let other viillages take advantage of konoha in a civil war. If every village were united without any boundary this wouldn't be necessary, but as long as division remains, each faction will want to remain at an advantage in case of troubles and this whole hatred cycle will continue.
Clearly people need to stop saying Sasuke doesn't understand Itachi after all this, on the contrary, its because he know true pain from two ends, as the one manipulated by his own brother, and as one made to kill his brother who loves him unconditionally. He doesn't want anyone to endure what Itachi, himself, Naruto and everyone endured up till now. But definitely, his revolution needs some little touches, I bet that's what Naruto would do.

Not gonna read, just wanted to be in before Itachi fans bash

OT: I think Sasuke should be a little more independent, but it's in the Uchiha blood to love others, and that goes deep

P.S. You look like you put work into this, but next time, put some spoilers and don't make too many walls of text

After reading, I'm still positive that Itachi would have made much better decisions than Sasuke would have.
I know that more than half see this series as if they were real and can make decisions or even exist, but no. You're wrong.

Kishi could of made Itachi retarded if he wanted to.

Instead he made him seem like a wise character and ninja, but in turn failed as a big brother, and everything else.

I read it all, as requested. I think all Itachi wanted was for Sasuke to use him as an example-- even when Sasuke didn't know anything. He hoped that Sasuke would find it in himself to stay with his friends and new found 'family' (team 7). To find the Will of Fire and stay in his village, to go against what he told him the night he left.

However, in their last meeting with each other, he hoped that Sasuke would take away from this that no one is perfect. That nothing is perfect in this world. You just need to make the right choices. He hoped that would push Sasuke back on the right path. Sasuke has it in him, he just hasn't really been convinced..

Remember when people were shitting on Naruto because he wasn't the one that actually 'saved' Sasuke? Back in the beginning of the war? Well, now is asgood as time as ever for Naruto to be the final person to talk to Sasuke and to 'save' him. Like Naruto said; he has no right calling himself a leader if he can't even save one person. (Save can also mean release them from an endless loop i.e kill if needed).

Anyway, sorry if none of this made any sense, been a long weekend of work. That's my thoughts though.

Didn't read properly, but Itachi is a brutal extremist terrorist supervillain who only had 10 minutes of short redemption. he did everything he could to make sure the world got massacred in a devastating global war given his efforts to kill off jinchurikis and steal their bijuus.
does a hero actively aid 9 evil terrorists in their plots to kill 9 people, steal nukes and make war on the world with said nukes?
does a hero do nothing to stop orochimaru and danzo and let thousands die?

he covered up an atrocious genocide that he was complicit in, tortured innocent people into comas, destabalised konoha by leaving kakashi in a coma (konoha was low on manpower as it was), tried to have an innocent person murdered by sasuke, was complicit in multiple obito atrocities given he made obito promise "everywhere is fair game for you, except konoha". apparently the other villages can go fuk themselves for all itachi cares.

its horrifying that posters call this skank a hero when brutally tortured 3 innocent people inside a hell dimension meant for mindrape and tormenting others, as a "kind and brave hero".
he committed mental rape. i dont care how to sugarcoat it. ITACHIS GUILTY OF RAPE. maybe not the physical kind but its still a type of torture and humiliation for the victim. and what do you fuking know, sasuke didnt take it too well!
who would have thought that torturing someone to embrace hate and murder, made them hateful and murderous? blew my goddamn mind. Sasuke should NOT be listening to such a madman, when's he's the core reason he is the way he is right now in the first place! Lel

I read this, however, you misinterpreted some things yourself.

@red- Itachi himself admits that he isn't perfect. No one has ever stated he was. No one ever stated he was always right. No one in NV is always right. However, it's foolish to say that most of what he says isn't right- because let's face it. It was.

@orange- Hmmm. For some reason that seems like a slight hyperbole of what he did in his wisdom. Yes, he killed the clan since he had no say over whether they lived or not. Konoha is the one who sacrificed them. The only say Itachi had was whether he sacrificed himself so to speak, and protected the honor of the Uchiha and save at least one innocent Uchiha- that Uchiha being Sasuke. He also prevented further conflict, since the Uchiha wouldn't be entirely eliminated until after the coup was supposed to initiate. He was smart here. The only idiotic thing lies with Hiruzen, where he could have just made Itachi the Hokage to avoid this mess so that both sides could be happy.

Leaving the bijuu and rinnegan in the hands of Akatsuki was something he couldn't change. Mainly because either MS Tobi or Pein overpower him. Tobi could even send all the Akatsuki after Itachi if things went awry. Itachi decided to do the next best thing and join them to make sure that one jin wouldn't be captured- that jin being Naruto. Had anyone else been assigned to him, they would have captured him when he was 12 and the Akatsuki would have succeeded in their goals.

He set up a fail-safe for Tobi and doesn't kill anyone unless they are an immediate threat at that moment. The only time Tobi would be an immediate threat would be after his death. This is a flaw in his personality. He doesn't always take out threats immediately. However, in some ways this trait has been proven to be beneficial, since he was the same way with DSM Kabuto- who ended up saving Sasuke's life.

@dark green- Itachi is the one who said that a shinobi is one who doesn't go for glory but protects from the shadows. Not Hashirama. :/

@lime green- Itachi does understand that shinobi must make difficult choices in life, at times with no options that one finds plausible. He's the first one to say that in this series, he mentioned it to Naruto in early Shippuden.

@light blue- No, it wasn't. The only case where that holds true is with Sakumo and even then it's just somewhat. Shisui committed suicide and left the entire problem to Itachi. Itachi decided to sacrifice himself. And the Uchiha were just going to disturb shinobi world peace to gain all the power in Konoha. Those deaths weren't unnecessary, everyone chose their own path there for the most part. They all received consequences for their choices.

@dark blue- It's not necessarily that they don't want to agree. It's more along the lines of he feels a need to spite the system after all the pain he's endured (which you did mention). It doesn't extend more than that, though. He stated himself that the only reason he's not obliterating and killing everything in the 5 great nations is because he knows they can just be rebuilt. Like when Konoha was rebuilt after Pein's attack. Sasuke's not exactly what you'd call mentally stable at the moment.

Conclusion: I think everyone understands that Sasuke just wishes to fix the corrupt shinobi system, however, his extremist way of doing things isn't cutting it. He's the new Danzo atm. Also, Itachi just meant that yes, people do need to respect you...at least the majority. Otherwise, you have no place as leader. In Sasuke's place, yes he cannot be Hokage now due to Itachi's words. No one wishes to side with him. The people would just rebel and he'd imprison or kill them. That's not good leadership if he's doing that to everyone. Sasuke just wants to be a shinobi world dictator. He'll change nothing that way and only cause more hatred, making things worse. His older brother's words hold true here. You need the support of the people to get anywhere in the long-run. Those who don't, fail (prime example being the previous Indra reincarnation, Madara).

@bold- No, let's be honest here. It's more along the lines of Itachi being humble and taking the blame for everything that isn't his fault (though, plenty of it is). When in actuality, the shinobi system as well as Sasuke failed him. Lol

That's made pretty clear by the fact that everyone who knows the truth says he achieved what he needed to, bar Itachi himself. The only person to bash Itachi was Itachi himself. Out of more than 7 people. Itachi saying he only failed in the end contrasts with nearly everything Kishimoto wrote about him in the databook. Let that sink in for a second. Kishimoto's intent is blatantly obvious here. U_U

The whole 'Unite the Shinobi World under one banner thing is crap'. Know why? Coz Konoha was united under one banner but there was still political, mental, emotional, and physical struggle and scuples even within that institution. Madara vs Hashirama, Uchiha vs Senju, Second and Third Hokage opressing the Uchiha, Danzo opposing Hiruzen and trying to take his seat, Kabuto v Root, Uchiha vs Village. All of these things happened under the so called 'united under one banner crap'. Fact of the matter is that people will still find reasons to fight and oppose each other no matter what institution or set of rules you bring up, as long as they have free will conflict and war will occur. The only true and everlasting peace was Madara's and Kaguya's IT. And before you bring that whole turning into Zetsu thing, don't, it's irrelevant. What use does a person in IT have for his body? What? Is he gonna sleep walk or sleep have ***? Or sleep go to war? No ofcourse not, he's living in IT so it don't matter if his body turns into a freakin bijuu or frog or zetsu.
