You make it seem like Madara was plotting against his clan for no reason.

For me it wasn't a good enough reason. It was very self centered as it was done only to suit his personal ego and irrationally vengeful. I don't see how he didn't have a choice. Sasuke went through more ups and downs and in the end proved to be much stronger and balanced person, once he got to sort it out. He got some help in the end but that's also because he let his friends help him and was willing to move forward- taking the journey with different outlook. Same cannot be said for Madara.

Even though Itachi isn't my favourite he had Hokage level intellect and was manipulated because of his hatred for war. Look at Hiruzen he was always forced by Danzo, Minato was a puppet of the 3rd etc. Hashirama was manipulated by Tobirama These people were carrying on the visons of Tobirama.

If you've read Itachi shine you'll understand Itachi's character a lot better. He's growing up in a senju dominated village while trying to save the world and his clan (which he fails at).

The real villain of the manga is Tobirama Senju.

He calls himself Itachi of the Leaf, incapable of just admitting that everything he did was wrong entirely and realizing that Konoha was actually at fault. He knows it'd be a spit in the face of his family to call himself Itachi of the Uchiha Clan. He lost that privilege when he did something that didn't have to be done. He's clearly a lost child, unable to identify with the people he really loved.

Konoha was wrong, but when you slaughter your entire family for something that used you and threw you aside, convincing you to love it, specifically the place you're born in, it'd be hard to say that that particular entity was evil and all wrong. It'd be a spit in the face to all of your efforts.

The coup was not going to cause a world wide war. Konoha was attacked twice and no one showed up to do anything. Do you realize how taxing and long a war would be to take over Konoha's land? It'd be useless and a waste of your army to stretch your men that thin over a land everyone else wants. Not to mention Naruto was there, so if the coup did happen, a war coming would probably end up killing NARUTO so it wouldn't happen.

The Uchiha would not have died, the Uchiha hadn't lost their numbers and were considered so much of a threat that Konoha thought a war would break out between the two sides. Tobi states that if a clan the caliber of the Uchiha rebelled, the chances of them winning were so high that Konoha had to get rid of them all.

Itachi made a mistake, and realizes his actions were wrong but he's incapable of admitting that Konoha used him up and threw him away with the rest of his clan.

That's because during Peins attack, Other villages need had bigger problems on their hands that attacking each other, That bigger problem being the akatsuki and them stealing their bijuu for what ever reason and the threat of Marada.

Do you realize how taxing and long a war would be to take over Konoha's land? It'd be useless and a waste of your army to stretch your men that thin over a land everyone else wants.

The benefits far outweigh the cost.
All of konoha's techniques, Clan hiden techs, Byakugan, Sharingan are all up for the taking for what ever army that decide to invade konoha while they're waring against themselves.

Not to mention Naruto was there, so if the coup did happen, a war coming would probably end up killing NARUTO so it wouldn't happen.

The war is outside of the plot, Plot shield doesn't help naruto in this situation.
Besides i doubt they would kill him, Atleast until they extract his bijuu or just keep him as a weapon of war.

Even when Itachi was in the academy he experienced hate from others because he was Uchiha. His teachers who were senju descendants disliked him because he was an Uchiha.

To have a seat at the table where decisions were made.

These demands were reasonable and they wanted to keep casualties to a minimum by kidnapping the 3rd and getting him to agree to the demands.

Anyway what was he protecting the Uchiha name from? Nothing they tried the normal route it failed and were forced to resort to extreme measures. So who's to blame the Uchih or the village.
The reason Shisui feared other countries starting a war was because the village elders/senju puppets wouldn't agree to the Uchiha demands. So who's in the wrong the Uchiha or the village.
Danzo wanted the Uchiha gone but he didn't have the power. how do you defeat Shisui, Itachi and a Minato level+ Fugaku? He had 0 ways and nor did konoha.
As for Obito killing the Uchiha there's no proof he would've ever done that. If that was his goal then neither Itachi or Sasuke would've been spared so that's fanfic. It would've been easier to convince Obito to join the Uchiha and crush konoha those who's sent Rin to her death.

I think he was a humanist. He wanted what was best for people, and being an anarchist would have cost the uchiha and more their lives, the only way to save Sasuke and to let him live a normal life was for him to become an enemy for him and to sacrifice the uchiha which he later on came to regret.
The Uchiha were unstoppable, their fate was already sealed, instead of being bound by his pride he looked beyond his clan and believed in the peace of a village Hashirama did.
I don't think he was a blind patriot, the patriotic thing would have been to value the Uchiha above the greater picture. I think in the end even though he lived like a criminal he wanted to be unselfish by still believing in a village even though the village betrayed him and made him an enemy of it.

The whole morale of Itachi was not imo that you should blindly believe in your nation even if it does bad things, the opposite, sometimes you are faced with bad options but you have to make bad decisions, decisions that may be uncomfortable, but you need to get rid of your own ego and see the bigger picture. Like standing up against your own nation even if it makes you an enemy, the nation here being the clan.
Even though you can still believe in a good of a nation and you don't need to become a complete anarchist, and want people close to you to not have to follow the same path as you but to live a normal life.
Itachi to me is more of a philosophical character than a cool character like Madara. A person that was interested already as a young person in things that didn't necessarily concern him, making him humble already at a young age.

But I do get your criticism and I agree to some extent, if you pick a part the story it doesn't sound very good and I would have written him differently if I could have because of that. I fell in love with him because I think there is something interesting about a person being seemingly a monster but in reality doing some good. Or doing bad but having a good character. I don't think that his story justifies blind obediance or forgivness of horrible actions with a good purpose, I think it makes you re evaluate how you see things, that maybe life isn't as black and white as they may seem in real life.

I think any normal person would have gone against konoha and been consumed by pride. But Itachi still believed that konoha could be good even though he had every reason to hate them. I could go on and on but It doesn't matter.

A lot of people love and admire this character but God is he a mistake. I mean come on, Hokage level intelligence at the age of seven? Give me a break. Itachi hadn't had half the brain to attend one Uchiha clan meeting to figure out the specifics of the plan and persuade the clan otherwise, he just let things coast.

Itachi tells Sasuke to kill his best friend for the Mangekyo, endangering the life of some random stranger for the sake of his personal vendetta. If Naruto hadn't been in team 7, whoever chased Sasuke down to the Final Valley would have died from that first chidori.

Itachi talks about how you shouldn't judge people based off of shallow misconceptions and yet he perceives the unruliness of his clan as annoying, fearful, and backwards pride rather than hearing his own clan's discrepancies out. He says and does both of these things in the same day. Congratulations Itachi, way to show virtue.

Itachi constantly flip flops, one minute concerned about peace and stability and the next minute "forgetting" to inform Konoha on the abilities of Akatsuki, causing unnecessary deaths that could have been avoided. He tortures his own little brother mentally, punches him in the gut, slaughters his entire family and extended family but can't bring himself to be angry at a village that segregated his clan and accused them of evils.

Itachi is an idealistic, brainwashed, patriotic, bland, sagely moron with no personality. This dude's entire life was ruined, along with the lives and dreams of his brother and family and still has the nerve to say "I'm still Itachi Uchiha of the leaf." The sheer brainwashing and blind patriotism in that just makes me worry about the people who love Itachi.


PS : If you are a part of a small ethnic group being mistreated by a government, please run a scan over the group to find any Itachi fans. The last thing you need is to be double teamed by that person and his psycho buddy in your sleep.

i'm making similar threat like this before and i support Itachi and entire franchise to be banned because it will easilly brainwashing weak mind innocent that favors him. Those who favor Itachi should take this issues seriously.
