I understand that Zetsu mentioned in a previous chapter that Nagato was of Senju Lineage, which, at face value, makes it appear that the Uzumakis were a branch root of the main branch: The Senjus
However this is a false misconception, lineage is a generalized term if we take the translation of lineage based on the context of Zetsu's statement in conjunction with Kushina's statement in a later chapter, the most accurate meaning of lineage, based on context, is the anthropological definition of the word: Kinship which is synonymous to Lineage
Kin·ship - Connection by blood, marriage, or adoption; family relationship.
Therefore Nagato is a blood relative of the Senju accdg. to Zetsu, not a descendant of the Senju or the Younger Son
Kushina never said that the Uzumakis were a derivative branch family of the Senjus nor were the Uzumakis a descendant of the Younger Son, only that the Uzumakis and Senjus were merely distant relatives, then it is logical to conclude, that in conjunction with Zetsu's statement, the true intended meaning of the word "lineage" based on the context of his statement was : Kinship, of being related by blood, not the Uzumakis being a derived branch of the Senjus or a descendant of the Younger Son.
Not to mention that: (Genealogically Speaking) If the Senjus and Uzumakis descended from the same common ancestor (Younger Son) then they will be close/immediate relatives because they would be sibling clans, not distant relatives like Kushina said, which would contradict her statement and Manga canon, so it's logical to assume that the present day Uzumakis are "cousins" to both Senju and Uchiha since they did not descend from Rikudou himself but from Rikudou's relatives.
Also the original Japanese text of Zetsu in 606 is this:
The original Japanese word that Zetsu used was "血縁" or Ketsuen which translates as "Blood Relative" NOT 子孫 or Shison which means descendant.
