Itachi is truly a genius even Obito said so when he is sitting in that cave with Sasuke and then all of a sudden amaterasu attacks Obito. he says that he couldnt believe that Itachi planned for this as well.

Yeah! Itachi is so smart it becomes his power. In the anime, everyone older than him showed him respect and feared what he might do. They wouldn't even look him in the eyes because they respected him that much!

The way you classified him being the smartest.... It's actually not, in that category Shika-ku/maru are the smartest...
But Itachi is among the best in the in-battle smarts...

How is he the smartest,when shikamaru,minato,orochimaru,kabuto,shikaku, are all smarter than him hell when you think about even nagato is smarter than him really alot of that intelligence has to do with his sharingan.

Not true. His intelligence abilities waver in comparison to Shikamaru, Oro, Kabuto and Shikaku. Shikamaru is limited in his equipment and jutsu so he has to use his brain, Itachi has massive tanks and one shot sealing swords so obviously his battle smarts have suffered.
Also i'm just saying, Shikamaru could've worked out a plan in which Tobi didn't meet Sasuke, just saying.

Not really.. He was a intellectual young man, but you have to be naive to believe that wasn't with the akatsuki fully.
He also, said he could've done things different. Instead of trying to find a peaceful way, he followed Danzo , example of the naiveness as a child..
People like Tobirama, Shikaku, Hashirama, Hiruzen, Madara, Obito, Minato, Tsunade, Orochimaru, Shikamaru.. can be considered smarter.
I see no difference between the way Itachi fights, and the way Naruto fights.

Smart, yes, smartest no. I g with Minato on the smartest due to what he was able to do. He was able to do things with his basic eye that the Sharingan could do, tell a jutsu's strenghts and weaknesses after seeing it once (Chidori, Obito's S/T jutsu) and created the rasengan by seeing the TBB (most likely in one of his many fights with A and Bee). Minato with no knowlede calculated th situation in seconds when Obito attacked the leaf. Even able to see how things will play out by sying how Obito wll be the bringer of chaos and one with a special power will be needed o defeat him as well as keeping Kurama sealed so the village's power among other nations are balanced. Itachi said himself that he failed, He said he should have told Sasuke the true because he might have been able to change their parents minds and also he was sad about driving Sasuke into darkness, that is not Itachi being Smart, that's dumb. Itachi wanted to protect the village yet made his brother it's greatest enemy, how is that smart? Don't get me wrong, he is smart but not the smartest, he's below Shikaku and above Shikamaru (maybe).
Jiraiya even says they haven't had a genius like Minato since, So that also leads me to believe Minatois#1 smartest. And as for those who say Jiraiya was just boosting his student, well when have Jiraiya over/under estimated anyone? Against itachi and Kisame he knows about them romhis spying (He's theone who told Kakashi) and knows his his own strength. Jiraiya was even able to know he most likely was going to die against Pain and that was just from hearing info about him. Also he said this to Tsunade and if she didn't agree with him then she would have said something.

If you go back like 2 pages then you'll see the Jiraiya said she can't come with him because no one else can be Hokage and she argues that there's Kakashi and Naruto. Jiriaya said Kakashi is fair enough but Naruto wasn't here yet then further explains what he meant, the village can't stay stable if it's leader keeps changing. They both know about Shikaku and Jiraiya knows about how Itachi was leader of the Anbu black opt so why wouldn't Tsunade argue wih Jiraiya about not having a genius like Minato?

Its really hard to say who is the smartest. I mean Shikimaru and Shikaku i believe can come up with very elaborate startegies more so than maybe itachi. Itachi's smartness is better described as wisdom. He can reason and think on a philosophical level.
