After completely reading the manga from start to the current chapter, one thing struck me. Itachi Uchiha is the greatest. Greatest what, you might ask? There's too many things he's the best at to just put him down under one.
Uchiha Itachi is the greatest:
There is no Uchiha greater than Itachi. Some of you might say "Oh, but Madara is the best!" Or, "Obito has Kamui! Good Game!" And the few misguided fans might even say Sasuke. But no, Itachi is above them all for the fact that he never had to use Senju DNA to win or survive. Madara was basically an addict to Senju DNA, he could never get enough of it and we can contribute most of his power to Hashirama Senju. Obito would be nothing if it were not for Senju DNA. Literally, he'd be dusty bones. And Sasuke? Look, he just got some injected into him recently to pull through. They are all just embarrassments to the Uchiha Clan and it's good name. Whereas Itachi was incredibly powerful, mastered Tsukuyomi, found legendary weapons that surpass the Sage's own, and basically brought the sharingan to a level it's never been on before.
Itachi is the single greatest character to grace this manga. The dark knight, shrouded in mystery and his true intent never being known till the very end. He was willing to be a martyr, kill and end his very way of life to allow peace to continue. Not only are his morals and his self righteousness greater than anything else witnessed in this manga, his devotion to his beloved younger brother was amazing. Extending his own life, and suffering, just to free Sasuke of the curse that Orochimaru gave him and give his much loved sibling the closure he needed. This will power is only matched by the Zealot Kimimaro. Itachi's amazing intelligence, coupled with his philosophical way of speaking only adds to the interest rate to this God send to Naruto.
Artist. Out of the three contemporary artists in the series, it's obvious Deidara is the best of them. But he even calls Itachi's art a true master piece!
The next aspect of life that Itachi is unsurpassed in is being a man. We all know that being a man means having *** and passing on our genes to the next generation. The younger and the better. At the age of thirteen, Itachi already had a lover (That he had killed...). This scan speaks for itself.
Let's keep this short and sweet, Itachi may not have the fire power that current shinobi have. But his intelligence and resourcefulness puts him above monsters like Kabuto or Nagato. Both defeating them with ease. But it doesn't end there, Itachi is also able to defeat powerful shinobi such as Orochimaru with the utmost ease. Multiple times. This is not saying Orochimaru is weak, he isn't. It's going to say how powerful Itachi Uchiha actually is. Obito feared Itachi and even Hashirama has stated that Itachi was his better!
I think this is rather easy to get through to people. There is no shinobi greater than Itachi when it comes to Genjutsu. Some might say Shisui, but he only has two powerful genjutsu that can be used once a decade. Not really too useful if you're fighting multiple opponents and if you plan on using genjutsu more than twice a decade... Itachi's Tsukuyomi goes beyond anything bar Infinite Tsukuyomi. The ability to control how long the victim stays in the genjutsu, the mental stress and trauma he delivers is enough to send hardened shinobi like Kakashi to unconsciousness. Not to mention once trapped in it, he can manipulate them with Tsukuyomi. Like what he did to Kabuto. Once hit, he can literally make you kill yourself. As if the odds of enduring it weren't low enough. Another great genjutsu is Izanami, a rare to use but unbeatable genjutsu. By the time you realize what is going on, your throat has already been slashed and you're heart punctured with a kunai. There is no hope.
For all those reasons and more, Itachi is the Greatest!
