He should have forced Kabuto to use the edo tensei's to attack Obito (as tobi) and Madara instead of just cancelling them.

Plot makes it so he didn't...

EDIT: Not saying any of these Edo's might have brought down either Obito or Madara but they could have helped in some way shape or form. It would have cost Itachi nothing to force Kabuto to do that.

Here's the problem...


1. Releasing Edo Tensei erases the board making it Obito vs the Alliance. At that point he wouldn't have been able to block Kakashi and the alliance from sealing the Juubi/messing up the awakening.

2. The only edos of merit left were Chiyo, Kimmimaru, and Madara.... Two of which were being pressed back into defeat.

3. Izanami can be escaped by remembering who you are... This could have resulted in Kabuto awakening, but still being allied with Obito: thus, Edo Tensei remains... Itachi is down an eye, and they still can't kill him.

De-activating it was the best/safest choice.

Itachi didn't know about the EDO Madara plus he might know "Tobi" can use Kamui and escape from everyone
and retreat to wherever he wants to go.

unfortunately this is the case and right answer sometimes. If only the adults knew that so they could talk to kids before they grew up and became bad people. killing people for themselves almost , but for others still.

The best choice would have been to release the Edo Tensei.. since Kabuto could have awakened at any moment and he would have turned the Edo's back onto the alliance and the alliance would have been totally screwed xD

Itachi is not stupid, he was honest to his own belief.

People revived with the Edo Tensei was bound again to the pain, the sorrow, the suffering and the regrets of the past, they were bound again to their consciousness, everything after these souls got their own peace.

If Itachi were going to control these souls, then Itachi would be hypocrite to his own way to be. He was truly someone with the mentality of a Hokage.

Actually, most of the Edo were sealed before Itachi defeated Kabuto.
