That makes no sense at all. Itachi even admits that if he just told Sasuke the truth things might have ended up differently. What he did was selfish on his part, but the only right thing he did was protect the village and his brother. He could of easily killed Danzo or talked with the 3rd to settle this once and for all.

Itachi said himself that what he did was a mistake.However people do that when under tremendous pressure.His intentions were good.Had he not done what he did many more would have died.He also wanted Sasuke to unlock his MS and become strong thats why he behaved wit hhim that way

Itachi was a pacifist who had seen war.He had to make the choice of the lesser of the two evils.The Uchiha were gonna revolt and had he not stopped them far more would have died.Itachi was even crying when he saw Sasuke fall unconscious and while killing his parents.

Not to mention the scenes were Itachi tortures Sasuke mentally and physically.

He wanted Sasuke to punish him for his sins and die by his hand and he kept himself alive through medication for this.He wanted him to become strong enough to do so and also so he could become a very good shinobi and hero.Its the excecution which was flawed
