If someone gives something to someone then that thing is now theirs. Itachi didn't steal KA like Madara stole Hashirama's DNA so KA is now Itachi's, well at least that one eye is. You can't comment on Yata Mirror or Totsuka Blade since we don't know where he got them or how he received them.
Someone admitting their mistakes is better then someone in denial about their mistakes. Itachi is a great character and that's that, also Itachi is invincible for as long as he's able to keep Susano'o active.
Shisui can defeat anybody but only with KA but other then that he loses to many and like someone else said we know nearly nothing about Shisui or Izuna so right now Itachi wins.

i'd admit im close to what you would describe as a itachi fanboy.
those reason are soley because i admire his, will,stratagie,power,logic,reasoning,agility, and many more skills that other ninja have but are not used with such finess
if i were say 'the hokage' id have itachi as my first choice for missions everytime he does what needs to be done
to get the job DONE even if it ment doing things he didnt want to do.

its arguable if anybody can even beat him, with yata and totsuka...and everybody who is top 10 has someone else's power except hashirama, and itachi doesnt have anyone else's power, he found those tools just like oro found the other ethereal weapon the sword of kusanagi...its not like he stole tham and they are considered ninja tools just like kunai and etc...

excellent with a sword, with throwing weapons, melee, magic, and illusions. if the comic wasn't so much about busting out the next planet or star system nuke, there would be a lot more cool fights. but kishi likes to tease. as you have mentioned, kakashi made a remark, without even knowing about m. sharingan, saying there's more to him. well besides the other characters wanking to him, there's just too much itachi skillz to show.
besides itachi, haku, hanzo, and a bunch of other characters can do so much more than just make explosions. kishi hints of their skill and grace, but of course doesn't like to show that. even gai was thrown into the dbz market and purchased a nice nuke move. could have been a lot cooler if he was just skillful in melee but whatever. the hyuugas too seem to have been toned down in melee, in favor of cool looking precision missile attacks (which i don't mind...but i do miss the hand to hand stuff). but enough of my rantings

Physically Itachi is one of if not the most gifted shinobi in the manga to me, which is what makes his personality so bland. He's too politically correct which is why you can't relate to him. He's like the guy that's better than everyone else, but still tries to down himself in an effort to get you to like him. It's like if LeBron doing a press conference after winning the NBA title and giving himself absolutely no credit for the win and all to his teammates even though they won the game 90-89 and he had 50 points, 10 assists, and 12 rebounds.
I get that Itachi had a hard decision to make with the killing his family thing, but he made that decision because he wanted to keep his brother alive and protect the village. He accomplished both of those things. All that "In the end I was just a failure" and "you overestimate me" stuff was too much. No he didn't get everything 100% how he wanted but he made those decisions for a reason. You had to kill your family, but you accepted that as inevitable and you managed to save the person you wanted to most as well as protect your village. If the only thing you did wrong was not tell your little brother the truth sooner, you've done alright. I'm not saying he should go shouting to the world how much of a success he is, but he's Itachi Uchiha. He's one of the strongest ninja around. He made a tough decision and stuck with it without ever straying. He devoted his life to his goal and did everything he could to maintain it. Even the main character almost gave in a little at one point and almost quit on his goal. All that "failure" stuff was overkill for Itachi.
He reminds me of how society doesn't like for you to credit yourself too much. Like if you're really rich, it's better for you to say that you got a little lucky, had a lot of help on the way, and made a lot of mistakes than for you to spend too much time talking about how much work you had do on your own to get to where you are because people will view that as "ungrateful" and "cocky" which is frowned upon. The idea of a talented specimen who faced harsh times but never strayed from their path is something that a lot of these athletes try to portray themselves as when you read their autobiographies and stuff. For me, I'd rather you take more pride in yourself than some people may like before you go out of your way to make yourself look bad for the sake of others approval. Itachi is probably the most loved and hated character in the manga and he'd probably be the most loved and hated person in the real world too. He's like Naruto's version of John Cena or something.

Itachi wasn't born with the Mangekyou Sharingan or the sickness he had. Do you assume that he just happen to find all of those or stole those as well? Since, as with the Susano'o weapons, they are all a part of him. Also, Itachi never really acquired Kotoamatsukami, he acquired Shisui's eye and managed to use its jutsu once. This also never really helped him in any battle at all. Also, you cannot really say that any of the other Uchiha we haven't seen are stronger or weaker than him. Shisui, Kagami and Izuna may all been weaker than Itachi, or stronger.
