The fact that he stopped the Edo Tensei, will be enough to qualify him as a "Hero".
Adding the Uchiha Massacre which was order by the Leaf Elders (should it be let known to the public), will seal his place there.

He didnt get any jinchuriki, what dirty missions? He killed no one after the Uchiha massacre besides the body he used as a substitute for himself. ( Resulted in host dying). Its clearly stated he went to keep and eye, or spy on them.

Kisame's capture of Son Gokū's jinchūriki, Rōshi, Itachi and Kisame met with the rest of Akatsuki Thats means Itachi helped to chach Jinchiurikis Thats mean jUUBI will kill peoples cous Itachi Worked For akatsuki..... and he was in Akatsuki for 7-8 years he realy killed Many peoples and Spies How can he be Forgived for What he did....Killed his own family and Clan.....

I get the feeling some people completely disregard my first post. First of all, it's stated that Kisame captured Son Gokū, Itachi didn't.

What Itachi did in the past doesn't matter to whether he's a hero or not, the fact that he stopped Edo Tensei makes him a Hero. His past is irrelevant for that matter.

Most of the Edo's were already stopped and sealed, and just about all of the major Edo's (except Madara) were already sealed. The alliance was winning and would have probably beat all of the Edo's regardless of Itachi stopping Kabuto. Itachi's main purpose in stopping the Edo army was to get rid of Madara, which Madara ultimately did escape from.

Also with the Uchiha Massacre, he did all of that to save Sasuke, not to save the village. Just about anything he actually did was for Sasuke's sake, no one elses.

First of all, thank you for actually coming with a valid, reasonable argument.

I'm just sticking with the manga fact that Itachi is called a hero. Though what you said is something to take into consideration.

The only thing wrong is that the Uchiha Massacre was for the sake of the Village, it has been said enough times in the manga already. His love for the village was stronger than his love for the clan.

This is why I think that his main reason for the Uchiha Massacre was Sasuke. He might have loved his village, but not as much as Sasuke.

I personally think Itachi is a great Shinobi but I think that others have portrayed more "Hero" behavior better Itachi. People who cared about there clan more than one person. He did alot taking out whats left of the Edo army. But the only people I could call a "Hero" are people who died for their Village. Think Jiraya and Hiruzen.

That made some sense. Though he killed the Uchiha clan to stop a war, he was a pacifist after all. Though I agree that everything he did after that was for sasuke's sake.

Well, as you said, that's the people 'you' call heroes. But I respect your opinion. If that's your point of view, I have no right to say you're wrong. I only mean that the manga stated he is a hero. You can have your own opinion of characters though.

Danzo also says in a panel Itachi is a danger for the Shinobi world, so that means he is not a hero?

Itachi is a topclass soldier, not a hero. A hero does not have the blood from little children on his hands = fact.

With that last sentence you just proved you didn't read my thread. Feel free to post further on this thread, I'm not thinking of responding more than this. I pointed out facts, proved my point, let's move on.

He is the biggest villain in the Narutoverse if you think about it (which i assume almost no one on this base does).
