Itachi's reflexes are better in edo-form than a perfect jinchuriki's.
Kushina died. He didnt save shiet. Even without Minato's help, she would've died because she got bijuu extracted from her.

Both Minato and Itachi die. Itachi is more tactical and would have cut that loss (like he does) and put his efforts into protecting the village- which he'd actually do a very good job of offensively and strategically.

Minato manages to rescue the son but not the wife with above average damage to Konoha.
