The uchiha clan was planning a coup d'état, right? So they wanted that the uchihas rules the village... what if hiruzen made Itachi hokage... wouldn't that be good? Itachi had a great will of fire, he would've done the best for Konoha AND it means that an Uchiha had the might... then the uchihas wouldn't plan a coup d'état, because one of them was hokage, and it wouldn't be in the disadvantage of konoha, like I already said, Itachi was very strong, smart and had a great will of fire... so why didn't hiruzen make itachi hokage?

In another time and place, if the coup d'état was never planned, I could have seen Itachi as Hokage. He proved his worth, but the Uchiha curse of hatred and instability of the clan would still have been risque.

Because hiruzen doesn't actually appoint the next hokage. He makes a recommendation then the elders have to approve then it will go to the feudal lord and once everyone agrees then the person becomes hokage. The elders would've never allowed itachi to be hokage because he was an uchiha. Also because the uchihas wanted to overthrow all of the senju and make the uchiha the dominant clan in the village.

No, there is no plot no jutsu. Itachi was 13 years old man, how could he have made him hokage, above the fact he had to kill his clan? Itachi wanted Sasuke to live, and to do that, he had to kill the clan. There's not much to it.

Here's the catch, it's one word: Danzo.

this will cause more problems to the village...cuz the Uchiha will start demanding stuff from Itatchi as a hokage and Itatchi knows his clan better than anyone so he couldn't trust them and he will be forced to annihilate them head on which would be a disaster if other villages knew about this and the oppressive regime that govern the village and Konoha will be hated ... What Hiruzen did was the best choice and Itatch being smart agreed to do that and be an escape goat for the sake of the village.
