Itachi>Hashirama?

Did Hashirama literally mean Itachi was better than him or did he mean that Itachi did something he himself would've never done? The quote varies by translation (*********** says "puts me to shame" or something like that) and I find it hard to believe that Itachi could beat Hashirama because Hashirama is a mortal god (oxymoron). And besides Hashirama only heard of Itachi's sacrifices and nothing else, so I'm sure he didn't really mean that Itachi>him. But Itachi is a genius and could probably own Hashirama with preparation time... Idk. Your thoughts?

Itachi's life is the epitome of what it means to be a sacrifice, not many would have had the power / force of will to go through what he did and not loose himself in the process, specially it was revealed that the Uchiha go nutz when they face hell,

itachi was an evil brutal sociopath so that means he fell to the same curse they did.

he was complementing itachi for how far he went for the sake of the leaf (from what he just heard about the man). he wasn't talking about how good itachi was in combat, like others said, he never saw itachi ..... sigh. hashirama is a nice cool dude (he will always talk nice), but even when you compare what they both accomplished, its obvious that hashi by far accomplished more (the FOUNDER).
