We all know what the moons eyes plan is and why Tobi is gathering the tailed beasts but if you forgot here you go;
So basically he wants to revive the 10 tailed, seal it in himself and use its power to cast a genjutsu that will control everybody.
But Itachi has wrecked this plan or should i say heavily delayed this. Lets go back to what Kushina said about tailed beasts 'dying' when they are sealed in a jinchrucki and the jinchuircki dies with the beasts inside it;
When the host dies and the beast is still sealed in it. The beasts do not die, they go away but they are revived. It will take quiet some time before they are revived again.
Now we know that tobi sealed 6 beasts in his paths. The paths now have been released meaning their soul has left their body;
This is exactly like dying when your soul leaves your body and the beasts were still in the paths body when the edo was released, therefore going by what the manga says, the beasts will be revived again, but it will take time therefore delaying tobi's plans. I know that shukaku is sealed in gedo mazo, but also because the 4 tailed monkey was playing around tobi released it so he has 2 tailed beasts, but the other 5 have been taken away from him. He now not only has to wait for them to be revived, he now has to capture them again which will be a hustle, but also there arent many akatsuki members left to do his work for him
