Marriage has nothing to do with anything. It was said itachi killed his lover, and even though most people are in denial it's obvious that was Shisui. Arranged marriages have nothing to do with love. I'm pretty sure Kishi "forgot" to go into details on that because it was advised by his editors that making itachi openly gay might have a negative effect on the fan base. Which is stupid. I think it ads depth to the character and what's wrong with having a gay anti-hero if you already have a pefophile villain (orochimaru)
