I kinda agree,but hey,it had canon parts,like kyuubi attack.
And besides,it can't be considered as a filler either. Other fillers were made by SP writers,but the idea of the light novels is from kishi. The told them the story and they wrote it. :sdo2:

Are Orochimaru, Lee, and Gai canon to you? Because they were not made by Kishimoto, but his editors.

Is the Chuunin Exams in part one canon? Because his editors came up with that as well, while Kishimoto wanted to do Team 7 missions instead.

/Filler vs canon, it doesn't matter. I consider it canon because it does have approval and is meant to take place during the series Kishimoto wrote (not some random outlier like game Susano'os or lacking approval like Kakashi's Anbu arc) & goes over the gaps Kishimoto did not elaborate on as Itachi was not the focus in his manga- Naruto/Sasuke were. At worst, it can be argued as pseudo-canon and at best canon. I'll just be optimistic and go with the latter out of my bias.

Either way, I'd rather see an ep based on Itachi's novel than read a canon chapter about armadillo penis from Kishimoto any day.
