You should ignore those who hate. Itachi has contributed the most in this war on the on the good side and yes this includes naruto. Sure naruto has been all around the battlefield and has helped defeat several powerful shinobi's like the 7 swords men of the mist and the previous kages, but itachi has been in the most important fights.
The whole purpose of the war was to protect naruto and bee and at one stage the war wouldve been lost if nagato did succeed in capturing naruto and bee, itachi saved then both. Its also his shurikenjutsu skills that blocked the rinnegan. Its his intelligence that figured out CT's weakness and finally its his technique that sealed nagato.
The second important fight was against kabuto. Its not only his genius feats that brought the downfall of the edo tensei user, its also his ability and discipline in fighting to capture rather than kill that has allowed edo tensei to end. Its his technique that stopped kabuto and its prowess in genjutsu that allowed the release of edo tensei. Ive noticed that people say itachi failed because madara still lives but that is pure hate that shouldnt be taken seriously. Sure there were a few edo's left and the most important edo of all, still leaves but there is more to it than that. In both fights he not only protected his comrades he contributed the most
Tobi it seems cannot control the 6 bijuu's and thats why he sealed them in his paths. Even sealed in the paths he still hasnt gained full control and infact one was in the middle of attacking tobi. Tobi resealed the bijuu's in gedo mazo, but itachi has still weakened him by taking away his paths. The paths give him benefits like the shared vision, but more importantly if he cannot even control the bijuu's when sealed in his paths, im certain he cannot control all 6 of them in their original state therefore i dont believe Tobi can use the bijuu's powers anymore or might be able to control 1 with the sharingan, but definitely not all 6. So Tobi might still have the bijuu's but he cannot use it against the alliance currently.
Also defeating the edo tensei user is very important. If kabuto was to get out of izanami by how the technique goes he woundnt use edo tensei anymore therefore the world is currently free from an edo tensei user. I do however believe that sasuke will kill kabuto out of anger therefore completely getting rid of an edo tensei user.
Itachi's aim was to end the technique and i believe he has done unless im reading a different manga. His mission was complete but off course you will get haters saying otherwise, it is however to be expected. When you sit at the top you will get hated on and itachi sits at the very top
