Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Itachi have a gennjutsu that doesn't require eye contact? If so then they held him back in this fight..

So does sasuke. They don't even need to be within range according to the manga...

Haha really well its whatever it would've been a short fight if they did that and people would complain.. I think Itachi can maybe take on DSM Kabuto alone without edo tensei.. Sasuke has a higher chance with his higher chakra reserves and amaterasu mastery.
Both sides had their advantages and disadvantages but I think the Uchiha bros had it worse with location, mindset not to kill, no full knowledge, and having to be on the defensive to prep a jutsu..
The only disadvantage Kabuto had was not to fatally wound Sasuke and that Itachi was an edo.

This is true. It's 60/40 in favor of kabuto, faaaar higher odds for itachi than kabuto fans would like to admit.

Yeah I suppose... sucks that the only bad thing about Itachi is his stamina and sickness.. its pretty much what holds him down to probably beating other top tiers.

But for plot purposes, he didn't.
