Itachi had the potential to even surpass madara, if he was evil and had the ambition to become better.. itachi is wise, and most intelligent. he is simply a genious. Remember when Obito admitted that if Itachi had known what Obito was up to "Id be Dead right now". There is only one thing to say really. Tobirama said the more hatred a uchiha possess the stronger their eyes are. Madara is full of hate that's a key reason as to why he is so powerful, itachi on the other hand was a pacifist he never once showed even a tiny bit of hatred or aggression and look at how strong he was and what he was capable of. My points simply are A he is the only one shown not to have those spores erupt in his brain and is really powerful despite no matter and B he if he did possess hatred then he would be a lot more powerful and could have eventually unlocked Finnegan LOL... if he was evil and took sasukes eyes to get ems and then the rinnegan. When Madara/Hashirama/Obito were at Itachi's age they were no were near him. Too bad he was sick though.
