Kabuto could have fully controlled edo Madara if he wanted to (he only wanted to see Madaras power I guess).

If itachi hadnt come and pwned kabuto, edo madara would never roam free.

Kabuto released the technique that activates the talismen he made to control edos.
Madara has the ability to undo edo not the talismen.

Madara cant break free unless edo tensei is released. And he certainly cant break free if he is 100 % controlled.

Where did you get that notion? Madara was far from mindless:

He broke out of the coffin.
He saw Muu and knew who he was, even made a comment about Nagato finally reviving him.
He was casually conversing with Kabuto up until Kabuto fled with Muu.

Kabuto gave him free reign.
Kabuto can't instantly wipe their personalities, we saw this with Hanzo.
Before their personalities get overridden, they can force some control (with enough willpower).

Because Kabuto was never controlling Madara, he basically told Madara to do what he wants while he observes... at any time madara could have used his seals
