Mostly what you have said is true but some parts are a little less thought of. Itachi had reasons and stuff. But he knew who Obito was so that is something he could have done to prevent so many lives from dying. He could have prevented the war. He only thought of Sasuke and how he should be a brother. But never thought to be a brother to the village. As it implies by Itachi's given name, he is a weasel. Family is important but the world is too.
but at least the last thing he did was releasing the edo tensei

But no matter what it all comes up to abilities, not what they do in the story. That's just how our fandom works sadly. Fans don't think about facts and acts. Only battles and strength. Sorry if that was cheesy.
