]I really didn't want to do this. But you people give me no choice. This show's been around for a while now and two characters in particular are especially loved. Hell I enjoy watching them and using them in NUNS as much as any fan. Personally I think they're great. But not because of their personality. It's because of their strength. I'll admit that right off the bat. But let's Let's face facts here: Itachi and Obito pulled off a killing spree more successful than any in our timeline. What they did was called GENECIDE people. And their version of GENECIDE was more successful than any observed in reality. I doubt Kishi will EVER allow a filler depicting the atrocity because of it's level of horror. There weren't just ninja's in the Uchiha Clan guys. Some were elderly, some were cripple, some were women, children, pregnant teenage ninja chicks, babies, or family pets. We still are very much oblivious to the methods used but we do know that it had to be the quick because it only took one night. It probably wasn't too extravagant because the rest of the leaf village wasn't alerted to the killings. I imagine there was a lot of kunaing, shurikining, amaterasuing(ouch!), and kamuiing. I doubt the duo had too much time to make sure the deaths weren't painful while they were fighting leaf police.
Now I'll grant you that Obito is actually much more despicable than Itachi. Whatever his past he grew up to be a psychopath plain and simple. It was Obito's first assault on the village with the ninetails that increased the racism against the Uchiha and instigated the coup de ta. The massacre was actually just him helping Itachi clean up the mess he helped make and in the worst way imaginable.
Itachi isn't so innocent either. When he found out about a masked Uchiha in the woods that should've been the first place he would think to run to with Sasuke if and when a civil war broke out. Instead he played the patriot. Bravo Itachi. Big deal he cried when he killed them. Bet there were alot of babies crying that night too. Until Itachi amaterasued them the hell up. And bravo everyone who likes to cover their ears and go "lalalalala nanana" everytime the truth about their beloved heroes are brought up.

I get that. But you know what dude? I read a thread on this very forum today titled "Why do people hate Obito". Some guy wanted people to stop all the Obito bashing or whatever. I went through the comments, some people gave reasons, some defended Obito. But not one person even metioned the massacre. Like it wasn't even canon. People will go on ignoring the depth of the atrocity unless Kishi actually makes an ep about it. They're actually cheating themselves by simplifying these complex characters inside of their minds. It's silly.

I'm speaking to every fan. The idolization of these two for all the wrong reasons has gone on long enough. What they did was worse than Newtown to the fifth power. I didn't write Naruto. But apparently no one else has read it.

Gotcha I'll start quoting. sorry.

actually the Uchiha massacre brings a bit of reality to the series, there was no way to avoid it and the it could have been worse (it's not that simple).

as for the methods they used, i can guarantee you that it wasn't a fight (no Amaterasu/Kamui) because it would be impossible for TWO shinobi's to take on the mighty Uchiha's in an all out fight + it would make the plan useless with all the destruction the battle would cause (they relied on stealth and a lot of planning to pull it off).

the writer wrote this scenario and the circumstances, tried to describe the difficulty of the situation then called the one who chose the lesser of two evils (the death of a clan over the destruction of an entire village) a HERO.

you can't always have the perfect solution and the right thing is not necessarily the easiest thing to do U_U

Naruto is the only one who can come up with perfect/unrealistic solutions (says/does ridiculous stuff that somehow saves everyone/changes people) which is the whole point of this series.

Kishi telling us a fantasy/story about a naive kid that can change years of politics/grudges/hate between the villages by just standing there saying stuff like "i'll carry your hate" and BOOM everyone is happy ............................ :yeah: yep i would take the massacre over this crap any day U_U.

Good observation. Obito and Itachi are essentially anti-narutos. Obito's case is obvious;a perfect example of how things can fall apart despite your best efforts. Itachi's life was a testament to the reality that sometimes you have to get dirty if you want to keep something clean. The symbolism does little to redeem their actions in my opinion though. However I'm glad there's someone online who's not in total denial.

What if you found out both were compelled by an outside influence to do it? You don't find it odd that Itachi's parents were just sitting there staring blankly ahead, poised and ready with their backs to Itachi so he wouldn't have to see their faces odd? Was Itachi trying to push himself to do it or trying desparately not to? We shall see.

You make good points. BUT, Itachi is not a psychopath. Obito is. Psychopath is someone who lacks empathy. Itachi was obviously just very skilled in turning that part of his mind "off". Still there's no question he loved/loves Sasuke very much. Obito is just plain evil and Itachi is just a person who is emotionally stronger than an average person and is put into a horrible situation. I can't relate to him and I don't know anyone from real life who has made or would make the choices he made, so maybe that's why it's easy to declare him as a psychopath. To me he's just an ultimate antihero.

No, sociopaths lack empathy. Psychopaths however, do whatever they think is necessary to get what they want. Doesn't mean they lack empathy.

Apparently you've never looked into the difference between the two. You're thinking of a sociopath. There are plenty of emotional and empathetic psychopaths out there buddy.

RE:Gyakusetsu
We shall. I actually wouldn't be surprised to see some crazy twist come about relating to the massacre. Maybe some surviving Uchiha's pop out of God-knows-where or something. I found it really odd that the only Uchiha's ever brought back to life by edo tensei were Madara and Itachi. What? Orochimaru and Kabuto couldn't find the bodies? Or did Itachi char them up beyond recognition? Or did Obito kamui them into oblivion? I think Kishi's still got a few tricks up his sleeve...
