My reason for picking them is development. Kishi is self admitted at not being able to capture romance properly, but he's done the most novice type of stuff to establish chemistry for manga characters. How Sakura acts towards him isn't unlike how other female characters in manga act in romances. A bit aggressive, but also show signs of being loving.
If you want to use logic just look at RTN, because Kishi wrote it. We saw Naruto with his family, Kushina acts almost identical to Sakura which is something Minato pointed out in the manga. If Naruto had a pushover like Hinata wanking over him he'd have no one to keep him in line.
The movie wasn't cannon, but considering the author wrote it we can't disclaim it either, especially when he's been incorporating bits from it into the cannon material. If Kishi plans for Hinata to win the pairing wars she's either going to need to be more like her RTN character or grow a big enough pair to keep Naruto from being a serious goofball.
