nobody hates Naruto. They only dislike several moments of the whole series. Can't deny that everyone feels sad since Naruto has ended, and most people are looking forward for the mini series + movie after all, despite the spits they have thrown on it.
Both Naruto and One Piece are the best shounen manga. They technically are not very standard-able to be compared to each other, since both have different themes and universes, ups and downs etc.
I remember someone tells me this; Naruto is a Ninja theme, it's a given people around the world give more interests upon it at first as it's a unique trait that can only be found in Japan, while One Piece is a pirate matter, where majority have come to know of and already used to the term, since pirates are everywhere worldwide. There's another few reasons also, let's leave them at that.
Explore both series without biased. Try One Piece without hatred and put a little bit of expectation or no expectation at all when watching it from the 1st ep or reading it from the 1st chapter. The development of feelings and hopes ep by ep and chapter by chapter will have you dumbstruck by miles. Some wise members, whom you might think they shouldn't have an interest on OP, were all love it in the contrary. You know who's who.
