It doesn't matter if Madara outlived Hashirama..... To prove whose is stronger they need to fight.. Hashirama BEAT Madara. So stop trying to make up excuses for Madara's inferiority to Hashirama by saying shit like, "He survived and outlived him, so they are equals"..... Makes no sense.

And I'm saying his goal was not to kill Hashirama in that battle. He said that attacking the village would lead to his final goal, which we know is infinite tsukuyomi. Maybe he only attacked the village, knowing Hashirama would stop him, to get some of his DNA. Because Hashirama never knew Madara survived (he may have used genjutsu to trick Hashirama), Madara was able to leave without killing him. Madara only wanted Senju DNA to achieve the rinnegan and ultimately infinite tsukuyomi.

it's a similar situation where as madara's intentions were for himself to gain a greater power in the end. he probably took a chance knowing hashirama isn't one to completely eliminate his opponent by cutting off their head.. that would have guaranteed madara's death..
