I still think its ms related. The new ability like the other ability both are related to Japanese gods. One that's a small GOD and another that's a god of darkness.
I'm pretty sure when he blinks hes shifting through ms abilities what's weird is why doesnt he just activate his dojutsu in the other eye so can use both in same time.
Maybe only one can use the sharingan and other byakugan maybe due to a mutation for eating chakra fruits.
Also if it's a ms ability why do both eye designs look different. His ability is alot like kamui space time technique where one eye can spend things back and forth from a pocket dimension.
The new dojutsu mode this chapter looks like the slice retracted seeing circle within. Maybe since its obtained from chakra fruit and not genetics the designs random and in insistent for each ms ability he obtains from it. Makes me wonder how many of these abilities could he have.
