This is a story I'm writing about the after-effects of the war on Konoha, the shinobi world, Sasuke, and Orochimaru. The plot is essentially Sasuke hunting down Orochimaru, while the shinobi world hunts him down. Naruto knows he his good, but nobody else.

Naruto had heard it would be more than adventures and prestige, but he never figured it would be THIS boring. Couldn't Shikamaru handle all this stuff?...
The sixth Hokage looked out the window of his office, at the village now in his hands. He saw a team of young Genin hop across the rooftops. Maybe a quick jog would do him good... Maybe get some Ramen...
No. No! He has to focus. This... paperwork, needed to be done. He sat back down, sighed, and grabbed his pen. Now which team to assign this mission? Should this money go to rebuilding the village center, or a new power line? Should this Genin be promoted to Chunnin? When is the village census, and how would the-
He wondered what Sakura was doing. It had been 2 years since the war, since Madara was sealed and the Juubi was destroyed. Sakura almost lost her life, had it not been for-
"Naruto." Shikamaru walked into the Hokage's office, carrying a blue folder. "This just came in. A nomadic group was slaughtered on the edge of the Nation."
"Alright. I'll send a team out." Naruto hesitated to choose Kakashi's current team, but considered it.
"No need".
Naruto looked up. "Huh? What do you mean, 'no need'?" People are dead!"
Shikamaru sighed, "It's already been taken care of. We scoped it out. Hundreds are dead, but among the bodies we found one... A shinobi. We can't identify the village."
"Why not?"
"No headband. He was killed, and it seems as though someone took the headband. If I had to guess though, he was Hidden Sound. That could mean..."
"I know what it means." Naruto cut Shikamaru off.
"It means he is around. Lessen the patrols. If anybody is on guard, take them off. We don't want any unneeded skirmishes."
Shikamaru nodded, then walked out.
Naruto looked out his window once more. Paperwork wasn't on his mind anymore.
"... Why are you so close to home?"
