I thought the fight was odd for both sides. Naruto didn't use his speed or clones, Nagato barely used his techniuqes he just went straight for chibaku tensei but that was Kabuto's fault. But at that point Nagato was above both Bee and Naruto.

The Rinnegan is the achillies heel of everything. Get close and you get mechanical armour in your face, go long range and you get nuked by a Shinra Tensei. Use Jutsu and it get's absorbed. Of course they would need Itachi, with his instant jutsu and the Rinnegan's one weakness, Genjutsu.

The thing that finished Nagato off was a sealing blade, the best one in the manga. Itachi was pretty much the one thing they needed in the fight, the Rinnegan counters everything Naruto has.

Naw man, Nagato wasn't nicknamed Third Six Paths for nothing. If anything it makes perfect sense; Bee doesn't have any technique that Nagato couldn't handle, same for Naruto. TBB is the only debate, but they didn't use it because it would probably take a lot of chakra, plus Naruto couldn't transform yet. Itachi was really the perfect counter to Nagato, since Nagato has no choice but to avoid the Totsuka Blade, which he couldn't because; 1. He was distracted by Naruto & Bee| 2. He's immobile

also naruto was goofing around at that point of time . he had all the knowledge and yet he forgot nagato's abilities
also the plot no jutsu was supposed to make itachi shine bright .
