Isn't it funny that everyone is extremely fast outside of combat, but then they are slugs once they're in combat? Like that scene where Sasuke is about to leave and Sakura is begging him to stay... one second he is like 15 feet in front of her, and the next he is suddenly behind her. And don't even get me started on Kakashi. Evidently he has FTG, because he has the tendency to appear places in a puff of smoke.

Shippuden episode 214 demonstrates this perfectly. At the end, it shows a flashback of the Sasuke and Sakura scene I was talking about. And then the very next scene is of Kakashi running very awkwardly and slowly to try to save Sakura. Hmm. Maybe he should, I don't know, use Smoke-Puff-no-jutsu? Just a suggestion.

Obviously I know that there are certain exaggerations outside of combat to further the plot. It's still pretty funny. Another example of this: whenever Sakura hits Naruto, he's perfectly fine after a second. But whenever Sakura hits her enemies, they are most certainly not-...... uh, well, that's probably a bad example. Just forget about that last one.

This has many names, names such as anime/manga logic, tension, etc. Its the same reason why you always have scenes where person A is standing a mile away from person B, and then when we get a close up of either person in a panel, the other person is able to distinctly see/hear the other person. A perfect example is when Madara came out of the coffin and stood like a boss on the rock. He was clearly out of view, not to mention the sun would have shielded his identity, yet the Tsuchikage was like, "its Madara" (que the close up shot of Madara)

The technique kakashi and sasuke used is body flicker which enhances body movement.
Kakashi couldn't use it since he just used ms (at that time)

Does kakashi ever use it in combat? I see what you're saying about ms, but he could've just used body flicker instead of kamui to dodge the Susano'o attack.

Also when Sasuke confronted Deidara & Tobi and he instantly appeared and stabbed Tobi. WTF? Why does no one whose soru/flash-step/speed-blitzing inside of battle? It actually pisses me off instead of being funny.

This is a useless thread. Kakashi used the Shunshin to appear places. And it's known in the anime that it's very hard to bttle with a Shunshin, that's why Shisui was so renowned for his mastery over it earning the name 'Shunshin no Shisui'.

It's interesting but a common techniques employed by the authors to show the speed of the actions, taken from the outside perspective, and then go into more detail as to what the combatants are actually doing/experiencing.

He uses it every time he uses chidori. Its a requirement i think.
No. The arrows were moving faster than his body flicker speed.

Not at all .

lol, evidently the phrase "isn't it funny" is an American thing. I don't even think it's funny... I think it's slightly ironic/interesting.

I guess they do it to make things go by faster and not waste time, could you imagine during that Sasuke/Sakura moment him slowly walking behind her instead of just appearing? That'd be dumb to see..

Couldn't really understand when you said to "further the plot" so..

oh, sorry. when I said that it was out of agreement, not annoyance. It can be hard to tell in text....
