I mean a asteroid of that size realistically would cause cataclysmic destruction. Oonooki had to lighten its weight.

Or did the Naruto verse nerf what a asteroid can do to a planet?

They nerfed an asteroid but it was likely a nation buster not a planet buster.

Yes And No:

e=mc^2 must be factored in for this particular situation.

Based on Manga the asteroid was moving quite slow for it to cause catastrophic destruction on a planetary level. As Salamander said it would have destroyed a nature considering how fast it was falling.

Now if you sped it up 4-5x then naturally it will scale based on e=mc^2 meaing the fast it's coming in the more damaging it will be. For it to be a planet buster it would probably have to be 5-10x the speed on impact. Not just size.

What melanoma said. A planet buster would be a meteor about 60 miles wide, way bigger than the one madara dropped on the alliance. I don’t know how fast it would HAVE to go to destroy the world, but meteors typically clock in at about 25,000 miles an hour
