Explain what you think you know about Sage Mode, Natural Energy, and their interaction with chakra. Don't just talk about the mode itself, but what sage mode is exactly.

And you're learning ISM, but for what contract?

Where do you think this natural energy comes from that you absorb? You sort of allude to it, but it doesn't just come out of nothingness. Everything has an origin, including natural energy. So when you absorb this and combine it with your chakra, you add another 'dimension' to that chakra to empower it. This triggers Sage Mode. But where does Natural Energy come from?

Lmao. You are one of my favorite members man I swear.

So Sage Mode, both ISM and PSM, are empowered states that come from blending chakra with natural energy. You're right to say that Natural Energy comes nature itself. It quite literally is the "natural force of the world," which allows you to tap into a new array of techniques and empower your existing arsenal with this Senjutsu Chakra. In the canon three versions exist: Toad, Snake, and Wood. You're opting to learn Snake Sage Mode, which is probably the most accessible of the three in terms of both strength and techniques that exist. Toad being the weakest, and Wood being the hardest to attain (available to only Hashirama and Madara, while offering arguably the strongest techniques). On AB there exists multiple other forms, like Hawk and Dog Sage Mode. These are the customized canon ones, since there really is no reason why they can't exist in the NV.

Now, of all these subtypes (barring Wood), there are Imperfect and Perfect variations. Imperfect Sage Mode, which we are starting with, is the product of a failure to perfectly balance chakra and natural energy. As a result, you take on the physical characteristics of the contract you are using.

What are the activation requirements to enter ISM? And how do you "pool" Natural Energy? What other factors differentiate ISM from PSM?

I'm gonna try and answer off the top of my head. Iirc you had to meditate and convert your chairs into senjutsu chakra. It was at most 30% or something like that. And PSM is a perfect blending of NE and chakra. I assume "pooling" is gathering senjutsu chakra

Yeah, so let's start with ISM!

( Fukanzen Hebi Sennin Modo ) - Imperfect Snake Sage Mode
Type: Supplementary
Rank: S
Range: N/a
Chakra cost: N/A ( -10 turn to sustain )
Damage Points: Active + 20 damage to all ninjutsu and taijutsu up to S rank
Description: An empowered state of body achieved by blending natural energy with one’s physical and spiritual energy. The mode heightens performance on all levels by adding a new dimension of power to the user’s chakra. The state is a direct result of Senjutsu chakra circulating through the body. To enter this form, a minimum of 10% of the user’s maximum chakra reserve must be moulded into Senjutsu chakra, all subsequent technique employ Senjutsu chakra until the minimum cost (-10/turn) cannot be paid to sustain the mode. The user is resistant to damage, reducing 20 damage from all techniques for the duration of this technique. The user is able to passively sense chakra and his/her perception and reflexes are enhanced. Their ninjutsu and strength increases, empowering taijutsu and other close range physical combat techniques by +20. Additionally, the user is able to break out of Genjutsu, using Genjutsu release technique one rank lower than what he would normally be required to. Lastly, the user gains access to snake anatomy and other physical feats granted by Sage mode.
Note: Usable twice per battle . Must wait 2 turns before using this technique again. Perfect Sages can use either perfect or imperfect form thrice with a delay of 1 turn between modes.
Note: Imperfect Sages can convert a maximum of 30% of their total chakra reserve. Perfect Sages can convert a maximum of 40% of their total chakra reserve.

At the moment, before you reach Perfect State status, you are able to convert 30% of your chakra. So this is more practical in the Ninja World, where you will have plenty of time to just chill in a landmark and convert your chakra. So I'll try to put that in context in a moment. But basically, every turn of meditation converts 10% of your chakra.

In the NW, one "turn" outside of combat is one post in the world. This can be done every 45 minutes in a landmark. So not moving in a landmark and meditating will net you 10% of your chakra converted every 45 minutes. Note that when you're meditating any skill you currently have active, passive or active, is disabled. You are literally sitting still doing nothing, with no skills active, when you're meditating and converting chakra.

So let's say you have 1,000 chakra as your cap. After 3 full turns of meditation you will have achieved 300 Sage Chakra. Once you end the meditation you will enter Sage Mode, which will cost you 10 chakra per turn from that Sage Chakra pool. Additionally, all of your techniques will be enhanced by Sage Mode essentially, which will also pull on that pool of 300 chakra. Sage Mode will end once you exhaust this pool of 300 chakra.

Any questions?

Here are the full Activation Rules:

Activation Rules

Sage mode requires natural energy to be collected within one’s body requiring the user to meditate. The amount of time one dedicates to collecting natural energy determines the duration of his mode. In general, Sage mode lasts as long as the user has a minimum amount of Senjutsu Chakra circulating through the body.
A single turn of meditation converts 10% of the body’s chakra to Senjutsu chakra. An Imperfect Sage can convert a total 30% of his/her maximum chakra reserve to Senjutsu chakra at a given time. A Perfect Sage can convert a total 40% of his/her maximum chakra reserve to Senjutsu Chakra. The body state changes to Sage mode after first turn (10%) of meditation but does not consume chakra until the user stops meditating. Consequently this also means, meditation stops any passive or active chakra consuming skill the user has employed.
Additionally, Perfect Sages possess the ability to instantly activate Sage mode without meditation with 10% of their maximum reserve as Senjutsu Chakra once per battle. Naruto Uzumaki bios are able to instantly activate with 20% of their maximum reserve and up to 50% of their reserve. He is also able to use Sage Mode with his Bijuu Modes, the effects stacking together barring speed increases.

( Senpō: Muki Tensei ) - Sage Art: Inorganic Reincarnation
Rank: A
Type: Offensive, Supplementary
Range: Short - Long
Chakra cost: 30
Damage points: 60
Description: This technique allows the user to control things that have no life functions by gifting them with some of their own life force, allowing the user to freely manipulate the substance according to their will. The extent of the user's control goes beyond normal manipulation through chakra, meaning that even drastic alterations to the immediate environment can occur both suddenly and unexpectedly, making attacks using this method extremely difficult to avoid. Intense heat such as that produced by the flames of Amaterasu can counter the effects of this technique, causing affected inorganic materials to revert to their previous state.
Note: Effects of the technique last two turns and can only be used while on Snake Sage Mode.

First Sage Mode technique then, and the only canon one you can use since the other is designated for Kabuto. Thoughts on this technique? It is very Yang-esque.

Now it's your turn to do some work. What are the actual differences between an Imperfect Sage and Perfect Sage?

( Kanpekinanin Hebi Sennin Modo ) - Perfect Snake Sage Mode
Type: Supplementary
Rank: S
Range: N/a
Chakra cost: N/A ( -10 turn to sustain )
Damage Points: Active + 30 damage to all ninjutsu and taijutsu up to S rank
Description: An empowered state of body achieved by blending natural energy with one’s physical and spiritual energy. The mode heightens performance on all levels by adding a new dimension of power to the user’s chakra. The state is a direct result of Senjutsu chakra circulating through the body. To enter this form, a minimum of 10% of the user’s maximum chakra reserve must be moulded into Senjutsu chakra, all subsequent technique employ Senjutsu chakra until the minimum cost (-10/turn) cannot be paid to sustain the mode. The user is resistant to damage, reducing 30 damage from all techniques and can heal (for 10 damage per turn) for the duration of this technique. The user is able to passively sense chakra and his/her perception and reflexes are enhanced. Their ninjutsu and strength increases, empowering taijutsu and other close range physical combat techniques by +30. Additionally, the user is able to break out of Genjutsu, using Genjutsu release technique one rank lower than what he would normally be required to. And similarly, the requirement to break out of user’s Genjutsu using Release or Chakra surge is one rank higher than required. Lastly, the user gains access to snake anatomy, Sage Art: Inorganic Reincarnation and other physical feats granted by Sage mode.
Note: Usable thrice per battle by Perfect Sages only. Must wait 1 turn before using this technique again. Once per battle, the user is able to instantly activate Sage mode, with 10% of their maximum chakra reserve as Senjutsu Chakra.
Note: Perfect Sages can convert a maximum of 40% of their total chakra reserve.

Some are listed in this mode. Others not so much. Find them for me.

PSM:

Can be instant activated with 10% senjutsu chakra, and has 40% maximum. +30 damage to ninjutsu and tai/ -30 damage taken. Heals for 10 a turn. Grants access to the yang like tech. Additionally, the user is able to break out of Genjutsu, using Genjutsu release technique one rank lower than what he would normally be required to. And similarly, the requirement to break out of user’s Genjutsu using Release or Chakra surge is one rank higher than required. Thrice per battle.

ISM: Allows you to have snake characteristics (scales and stuff like that) because of the imbalance in chakra.

Alright, none of that was actually wrong. But I'll hit up the large parts you missed.

This goes back to what we talked about - Imperfect Sages failing to perfectly balance the natural energy, which results in their animalistic transformations. The most important note about being in Perfect Sage Mode is that while in it you can actually interact with Yin-Yang Release. Many of the techniques in Yin-Yang, namely the Truth-Seeker Orbs (Yin, Yang, and Yin-Yang TSB specifically), exist outside the normal spectrum of interactions. Sage Mode lets you overcome this weakness and actually interact with and neutralize them. This is the highest benefit you gain from Sage Mode, which is still not fully appreciated by a lot of people since Yin-Yang isn't fully mainstream yet as people are still trying to get it. But as it becomes more and more popular, and more and more people get it, this perk will be infinitely useful.

Also, one thing to note. Remember because converting your chakra is a % of your maximum, it is very beneficial to increase this maximum. So Yang masters, for example, have their chakra pools expanded by 1,000 chakra. Same with some canon bios, shit like that. They can convert vastly larger quantities of chakra much faster.
