And these aren't untrained soldiers.

Saddam's Republican Guard is known to be training many of these guys. Some of them were also trained by our own military when we were training Iraq's army (let's not get started on how Obama royally ****ed that up by accelerating the program and firing everybody who said it was a bad idea).

Further - in our hasty exodus - many of their arms and equipment actually come from us.

The Syrian rebels our administration was funding through Benghazi are also a source of these arms.

The Syrian rebels who are supposed to be Obama's foot-soldiers in this war against ISIS .... who also just signed a peace treaty with ISIS.

So, while they may have quite a few rag-tag nut-jobs to run around and make noise... the core of the operation is a much tighter operation with some savvy leadership that is clearly better than Obama's.

Although it's getting to a point where I suspect Obama is deliberately arming these people and doing everything he can to see to the formation of a caliphate. Although it could just be that he is hopelessly incompetent and the competent adversary makes it look like child's play.

Of course - we SHOULD be teaming up with Russia against this. I don't like Putin or what he's doing to Russia. But Russia is the natural enemy of the Islamic fascists, and Obama should use his pen and his phone to see if he can get Russia to fly their bombers over those countries instead of the waters off our coasts.

Although we should probably leave it alone. Iran, the Saudis, UAE, etc all have enough of their own military to put the hurt on ISIS. We should let them fight to preserve their regimes rather than wait on us to take care of it.

But... I think ISIS will prevail under that scenario, as well. ISIS appeals more to the tribal systems that still have an immense amount of popular pull. The fact that ISIS is putting heavy investment into industry and infrastructure in a way that complacent rulers were not... they have the stronger 'practical appeal.' Which is enough to pull all over to their side spare for the ideologically rooted.
