Isayama posted a correction regarding a part of Eren's monologue on his blog

Rather than

“ 「王家の血を引くものを
　巨人にして　オレが
　摂取すれば・・・」 “

“If I consume a descendant from the royal line who has been transformed into a Titan…”

It should’ve been


“ 「王家の血を引くものを
　巨人にして　オレが
　接触すれば・・・」 ”

“If I touch a descendant from the royal line who has been transformed into a Titan…”

Basically, Eren was not thinking about consumption but rather physical contact, as he did with Dina’s Titan many chapters ago to unintentionally trigger the Coordinate.

In addition to apologies for starting off the new year this way and assurances that the error will be corrected in the tankobon/manga volume, Isayama also writes:

“This is my mistake, and it will greatly affect the later development in manga.

I apologize for making Eren’s ideas suddenly sound insane and therefore confusing the readers.”


I haven't had time to do my normal re read of every chapter but I rremmeber this part and now that Isa made it clear, I remember that part with Dina and now it makes sense about the cordinate. She being Royal triggered it.​

That line did seem weird to me. If eating a royal would let you use the Co-ordinate, Grisha would have had no problems using it himself since he ate Frieda, and chances are that would pass to Eren with the Shifter powers. Just having to touch a royal makes more sense.

In other words, the crazy thing to do in this situation is have Eren punch the shit out of Annie's cocoon until it breaks, then have a Titanised Historia eat Annie to get shifter powers so they can use the Co-ordinate semi-freely. Sounds stupid enough to work.
