[Question] Is Zoro the 2nd in command of the SHs?

Well I guess I was wrong but regardless first to join doesn't guarantee a vice captain or a second in command and that's been showed already in one piece. In the case of sabo because sabo wasn't the first to join the revolutionary army who already had Ivan and kuma but he still became the revolutionaries second in command so it's really up to the leader and who they would decide is best suited to have said position.

yes he is but no one can fill in the role of pirate king or captian of the SH the team would dissolve if luffy dies just like gold d rogers
You're right, Being the first to join a pirate crew doesn't make one a Vice-Captain. But most of the Vice-Captains are the first ever crew mates of their crew. Like in the case of Rayleigh for example. Since Luffy is going to be the next Pirate King and given the parallels b/w Rayleigh and Zoro. It can be assumed that the same would be the case for the SH's.
Rev's aren't pirates so you can't use them in an argument concerning the pirates as they do not follow same kind of hierarchy. Even if we follow your logic, It'd still favor Zoro. As Zoro is second strongest member of the crew just like Sabo in the Rev's.

Zoro isn't the second strongest in the crew zoro and sanji are equal in strength therefore hold the position of second strongest equally. In that case this could show why there is no vice captain because those to candidates are equal and when luffy isn't around which ever of those 2 being zoro or sanji that is around is in charge like in the zou arc luffy referee to the group as sanji and the others.

We have no idea if Jango, Boo, Marco, Ben Beckman, or Sparkies were the first members to join. In fact, I'm pretty sure Rayleigh is the only First Mate in the series that's confirmed to be the first person to join.
It'd probably be useless but gotta say it anyway. It's when neither Luffy nor Zoro is there, that it becomes Sanji's group. When Zoro is there, it becomes his group

In all those instances Sanji was alongside Zoro, but the group was still referred as Zoro or at least started by him which is interesting to note considering it's made by different members of the Strawhat themselves(Luffy, Usopp, etc) or even Oda himself through his illustrative drawings or texts
Even the bird on the tree would realized by now why is Zoro the indirect first mate of the crew,too bad some are still in denial XD
They fail to realize that Luffy is always calling Zoro when he is near him despite having Sanji and others next to him as well.

Guys work was first to join and is second strongest. He is the skipper no matter what way you try and put it. It actually surprised me to read on here that luffy never clarified his position. I'll take yalls word for it cause I've been reading this manga for ten years I don't remember if he did or not

He hasn't, in fact there is a panel where he tells Usopp if anything happens to him Usopp is in charge of Merry but Merry's gone now and you can argue it wasn't a serious offer.

Marco wasn't unofficial. The fact that he took the crew after Whitebeard's dead was what officialized his status as the First Mate. Zoro doesn't have anything like that.
Also, unofficial first mate is a meaningless title. That's like me saying Robin is the unofficial first mate because she gives Luffy information about the world.
