Is Yamato a code name or a real name?

When Yamato came out of the spiral zetsu, Hiruzen recognized him as "Yamato"....however 'Yamato' was supposed to be the code name that Tsunade gave him for the duration of the mission at the Tenchi Bridge...Kakashi on the other hand used to frequently call him 'Tenzo'...so is 'Yamato' or 'Tenzo' his real name??Or are both of them code names?
