Is he really a Logia? I've always been skeptical of this and never quite sure... So here's my argument
Now... look at the bold statement

This is my problem with the fruit. Not only that, but there are other factors.

The "he got cut in half by Usopp" argument:
Did he really? Did you forget that while coated in a substance, extra mobility is viable? Was it not possible for Trebol to elevate his skinny (and tiny) body above the impact? Magellan did it:
So why not Trebol?
To add, Mucus can reattach itself and hold him together if he does get separated in the instance of the Radio Knife, of Laws. Law can't even kill people while cutting them in conjunction with his ability, this reduces the argument further
It's incredibly convenient for him to be incredibly skinny, he could quite easily be a contortionist, able to flex his body into tiny shapes
Also note:
Donquixote Pirates (DF user members) on Dressrosa all have Paramecia fruits except Trebol? Why is he the odd one out? He's nothing special. And since Doffy's crew has themes running throughout, why does he (supposedly) break the Paramecia theme?
Kaidou's crew is Zoan themed and Doffy's crew is Paramecia themed, the two are heavily linked.

It's possible that he's eaten an artificial Logia.
Beta = Sticky = "Logia" = Beta
Gama = Toad = SMILE = Gamma
Arufa = Atom = "Paramecia" = Alpha
They're all names of stages in production of products (i.e. Artificial fruits) and are all different types of radiation, a series, if you will.

There are Paramecia fruits that can produce a substance (that isn't a force of nature or element), such as Magellans Doku Doku no Mi
Or Galdino's Doru Doru no Mi
These two fruits share similarities with Trebols devil fruit because they are able to produce a substance and coat themsevles in it, as seen here:
