The US is biggest bullies of the world! They make 35 countries suffer for the benefit of 1. F-ing disgrace of country that doesn't stand for what was meant for :/
Bro, I understand where your coming from, so I dont want to get into an arguement, because of your kind heart.

But come the hell on? The africa millitary/voluntary millitary enslaves and terrorise their own people, and make kids kill their own parents, to join them. They Ra*e their women, painfully.

Iraq bombed the world trade, innocent crossfire casualties of war happens. It be like that sometimes.

Asia got us beat tho, they good.

If the torture can prevent another 9/11 from happening then yes, I would want them to go through whatever lengths possible to get information that can save innocent people's lives.

you can never prevent the 9/11 happening again? wanna no why? cause it was not terrorist it was the government plain and simple

It depends on your philosophical stance. Utilitarianism would suggest that torture is acceptable, though that's not my opinion.

Evidence suggests that torture shouldn't be used, not because it's immoral, but because it's ineffective. Basically, when you torture someone, you're likely to get false information because the tortured person will say anything to relieve the pain.
Well said, Panda sage. You're correct only to a degree though. I say that because of myself in particular. I can't handle torture in movies and stuff, I just don't like it. If someone I know were in trouble and the only way I could save them was through torturing somebody; you best believe here and now that I'd get the truth from them mighty quick. ;)

Any of you familiar with Lawrence Kohlberg's stages of moral development?
This question fits in his research. If we look at it in the moral way then no, it's not a good way to go about things...like panda said, it doesn't always mean that you'll get the accurate information thus the making torture irrelevant and uncalled for.
But if there just doing it randomly without reason and know that it wont get them anywhere, then why do it. I would rather tell them straight up how it will go down just so they'll know and go ahead with the plan. You know with the whole 911 issue? well, like my U.S Government teacher said: " I would just nuke Mecca, their holy land then the next and next if they don't stop and continue to attack"
Yes, even though I would say that, it indeed makes you ask and wonder "Is this right? hurting innocents that had nothing to do with the attack just because someone from there decided to go insane?" Hmm, I doubt asking people here will give you an answer such as "Yes!!" our society had changed over the years, where we now have increased our knowledge of the past mistakes from those who were morally corrupted and we have seen that it never ends well.

Now before anyone attacks me with the "you're a cruel monster" for agreeing with the teacher, in my defense, I can understand why he would say that, one thing is agreeing with him and another is believing whether it's morally wrong or right.
Only when I thought of it and put myself in his shoes did I understand but it's still not the best way to go about things. It will only result in a growth of hatred towards the U.S and a full war.

The military and armies and nations want the respect and support of their people, then fight morally. Fight fair. Causing pain to a living being is sick no matter what case. Basing a "greater good" on something that involved the pain and suffering of others will never go about well.

I say no to torture.
