While he was attempting to warp Konan away, he was solid. She used that as an opportunity to suicide with explosive tags and take him along with her while he was solid. In order for him to absorb someone, he has to be solid.

My takes on this would be that since it would have taken a longer time to absorb her and the explosion together, he switched to just absorb the explosion. Even then, he didn't manage to absorb all of it.

To me, that technique's weakness is the amount of time it takes for him to absorb something while he's solid and he'll be open to a counter attack during that time.Even then, it still doesn't take too long to absorb someone so the opponent would have to be quick to counter attack before he gets sucked in. Unless you have some sort of teleportation that would allow you to just teleport away.

The great part of Tobi's warping is that when warped, enemies are immediately put under a Genjutsu that stops them from being troublesome.

Also i don't think Tobi we've seen any scenes in the manga where Tobi needed to warp any Jinchuuriki or High level Sharingan users.
