Huh. That's some crazy shit. I absolutely believe in most strange creatures and shit like that. Humans know more about space than they do about their own oceans...
I highly doubt we know more about space(the universe) than our own oceans.
We certainly have alot to learn on both topics.
I dont neccesarily believe in strange creatures. But I believe in the possibility that they exist.
If there is one creature I think has a decent chance of being real, it would be bigfoot. There have been many sightings, over the centuries. Also there is a very plausible theory one why we havent found them.(essentially they are intelligent, and avoid humans, and they bury their dead, and they live in remote areas where few humans go, so finding any evidence of them is like finding a needle in a haystack, and people who go to those remote areas dont carry quality cameras which can get broken.)
There was a interesting picture from lockness though...
You must understand that science works under the paradigm of preternaturalism, if an independent finding/research is not peer-reviewed, then it's not meritorious.
Just because it is not meritorious does not mean it may not be true. It just means it cant be confirmed.
Unfortunately for rare events, it can be very difficult to find proper evidence that can be peer reviewed. Thus scientists are left to just speculate and theorize about the topic.
It doesnt help that some "scientists" will fabricate, or misreport evidence to get funding or money or attention.(unfortunetly this can extend in all fields beyond the realms of science considered psuedo science.)
Ultimately the chances of a mermaid existing is low, due to no evidence being found in things such as fossil records.
On a side note, I dont really believe conspiricy theories. But I definately think some of them are
possible(possible just means they may exist not that I think it exists. Just as scientists think it is possible that life may exist on europa.). I think there are many things our government covers up, and will surpress the information from getting out to the public.
IF mermaids exist, and for some reason the government wanted to hide their existance, then the lack of evidence could make some sense.
As for mermaids, I have not seen any compelling evidence to make me think" hey they exist" Especially due to bogus fake evidence.
Evolutions certainly leaves a possibility for them to exist though. I mean you have animals coming from sea creatures, surely a animal could do the reverse and become a sea creature.
