Certainly he is genius right? Opening the last gate ensures death, which means prior to his scuffle with Madara he had never opened it before. Meaning there was no practice involved...as nothing could have prepared him for the last gate.

Guy has never moved that fast before, yet he was able to still effectively implement strong fist and keep perfect form.

He most certainly has never kicked up air before, yet was able to balance himself and move around normally in the air.

Created two skills that he himself had never even seen before or had the chance to practice (EE, NM). Despite this he still knew exactly what he was doing.

Is Guy a genius? Discuss.

Well just how with change in eye shape you suddenly know how to create black flames and bring out humanoid monsters on the scale of tailed beast then sure with 8th gate gai can suddenly do all that shit. That is called plot.

Sasuke awakened MS and then used Amaterasu without training . And he didn't know his Rinnegan ability :lmao:

Naruto awakened RSM and then used TSB without training . And he didn't know he can fly ! :lmao:

Well Guy used evening elephant (an air cannon punch) and the night moth (a space bending super kick) so I'm pretty sure he had time to study up on these techniques, because that isn't something you can just pull out of your ass. So he either witnessed his dad doing it against the mist 7 swordsman before he ran away, or these attacks are common 8 gates knoiwledge, also in the manga lee had heard of evening elephant before, this mnga scan proves it, so no Guy did not just create all this stuff on the fly he had already knew about these ,oves and even talked to lee about them prior to this occasion

Uchiha magically know how to use their new eye hax ability after getting it.

Kaguya knew Amaterasu's name even though she's never heard it.

Kakashi and Obito both called Kamui by name even though they never spoke to each other about it prior.

There is thing as battle genius. Naruto was shown as Kinesthetic student. Learners with kinesthetic preferences learn through active movements and experiences. That does not mean that he is dumb. After all how fast did he learn rasengan? Or rasenshuriken which even Kakashi failed and created chidori.

He's not a genius but he's a definitely a prodigy. There's a difference between the two, Gai defo had prodigious talent and enough to reach a level close to the Sage.

Yes, it is because Gai is a complete master and genius at Taijutsu.

He likely estimated how great his abilities would be based off his experience with the first 7 Gates, and created strategies around his estimations for the 8th Gate.

Hence why the EE technique worked, but Gai had no idea of the pain involved. He didn't create them on the fly, but they were educated guesses.

Just goes to show how much of a master Gai was at Taijutsu. Literally the best in the history of the NV.

The manga implies that it's common knowledge that after going 8th Gate, they can use those moves.
Only Minato was surprised because he never knew he could go full gates, others didn't and Lee even knew the full mechanics of the EE, how it's a consecutive patterned attack.

P.S.
It makes sense for Gai who has been training himself and studying Taijutsu/8 Gates for all his life.
Unlike those kids who aren't taught at academy that with different eyes you can shoot flames from eyes or create humanoid monsters at yet they do it instantly.

Unlike Lee, Guy has always been talented. He must have conceptualized and created Sekizo and Yagai though, before using it.

Kicking up air isn't a big feat for him either, considering all of his Gated attacks apart from Asa Kujaku manipulate air pressure, including his much practised Hirudora.
