First attempt at a scanline effect... kinda failed xD

nah ur scanlines look nice - try putting them on a different layer than the rest of your work and lowering the opacity it lessens the impact while still looking good xD'

i like the natsu one the most as you havent over coloured it and the he fits in their nicely without the stretch...

go to deviant art and find a bunch of c4d packs - they come in very handy with avatars

You are improving, but from my experience of terching people how to gfx, I recommend to make signatures. There is more space to work with and with more room its easier to find your own style. Also signatures requires more things to do and so gives more experience, I mean an avatar is somethibg which I can do with just 3 layers while a signature requires more effort.

Hmmm its really hard to compare sigs with avas XD
If you wanted to improve your sig, you should have made another sig, not 2 avas

But well here we go again!

Luffy - Its good, but maybe more effects would make it more interesting ^^ Like fractal effects
In my opinion the border is really importanto on an ava, you should add border to your avatars, i mean look at your ava that border is so cool

Natsu - That one looks really boring and monotome.... and most of all, the colors dont go with the render, i was expecting a more red thingy because of the air a stuff

Unknown one with scanlines - One more time, that bg doesnt go with the render, i mean, in all of the render colors (pink, blue, black, yellow and stuff) and you choose green :ghehe:
