Microsoft Surface Pro 3?

I am not a heavy gaming guy.
I had a graphics tablet but it's broken now so....
I like typing.
My cousin has a laptop, but after 2 hours it heats up then automatically shuts down. I hate that.

From the things above ^ Is it the best choice?

stay away from surface 3 the i one had used had several issues with keyboard connectivity and its seriously lacking ports.

edit: when the keyboard does work its incredibility flat and a pain to use imo.
Dell xps12 is quite good comparison not as thin still has a laptop mode but you can swivel the screen to make it a tablet
