like when people are just born to kill for no reason.
hatred just geneticly based?

in my oppion... there is not a single un adulterated evil in the world. there is a catalyst for it all.

in my equation it is this

Background+ Life+ personality+ hardships+ will = good or evil

no lets say you had a rough life chances are you're a good person if you had the strong will to continue forwards and hold fast to your strong will... but what about the people that have given power....

The lucifer effect goes as such

Absoilute power+ time+ will = evil

if you give someone absolute power eventually they will give into the tempation. it starts as a minor abuse... when they realize they can get away they continue the down ward spike. becoming somthing of a dictator. cause they know they have the power

lets take some figures we widley consider evil

lets start with ummmmmm hmmmmmmm

Hitler

hitler was the nazi leader and the fueuer of germany.

his life was a harsh one, because here's the thing.

Abuse+Failure+ stress+ witness of a friends death+ lured into the nazi= Adolf hitler the butcher.

is it possible that it could've all been avoided no... no... history has a funny way of creating it's own attrocities.

next

NERO

Roman emperor: burned half of rome for a pleasure palace.

Mental problems+ upbringing= nero the horrid.

ok for those that don't get it...

is there really a pure evil in the world. there is always a set of situations that have caused people to turn...

this revovles around.

Hatred
Greed
Pride
Lust

if you want a example lets take for example myself...

i am not exactly perfect nor will i never be.

but imagine if i had watch a friend of mine die in front of me by someones hands... do you honestly think i would care about right from wrong.

everyone is capable from falling from grace. no one is immune to evil.

so my final question is... do you think there is truely pure evil a evil that exist for no reason.

Nope. All evil bases from one of the things you mentioned, in my opinion.

But.. what about those people who just go on crazy killing sprees? What would you rank that under?

I see the good in everyone, and though a person can be born with a mental disorder that might cause them to do bad things, I don't believe evil truly exists without it being developed over time, from upbringings to how people handle what life deals them.

Evil and good are two things that must coexist. What the definition of "good" and "evil" is are flexible and change.

If we have to consider genetics and biology, I will say that pure evil doesn't exist. We are only born with the instincts of survival and self-preserve.Everything else we learn by example or experience. So the environment and one's experience determines if they will turn into 'evil'. Of course there are some mental disorders that include in their symptoms violent actions such as physical damage or even murder. But those too, are depending on environmental causes to appear.
The example you set is not very good I believe.Every normal person would go 'crazy' and try to hurt/seek revenge if he saw a loved one die if front of him.
But to determine evil I believe you should consider that there are many people who will just hurt others to feel good or satisfy selfish wishes. When somebody is in emotional pressure he tends to overreact in situations. This also happens when they grieve and try to find relief from a painful incident. But when people just try to hurt others (not only emotionally) for their own pleasure then,I believe, there is true evil.

yes but you have the wrong conception of what true evil is,
i'v seen kids as young as 2 years old and you can tell how cruel they are going to be
some learn to show restranght and some hide it well, and sometimes a few even change
as they learn values, i have met truly evil people and it hurts me to the core on how much they get away with.

i was like you, i always had to know what motivated a person to do the things they did because i did not belive
there is such a thing as hatred, i personally don't know what hatred feels like it's not an emotion i have ever experienced
i have gotten angry, i may have felt that i hated, but if that person need me or asked me for help there was always
forgiveness, no matter what they did to me, sometimes i understood what motivated them but too many took my kindness for weakness, but i am strong because i would not let them change me,
i want to be who i am, and not forced to be defensive all the time, so i give freely
no strings, nothing in return, if someone feels they got over on me it's there loss. but when you are like me you get to see the true nature of people and some are Truly EVIL.

I think the question really boils down to human essence, or what are the defining characteristics of humanity. That, for some, can be a difficult thing to really define. For example from a biological, scientific stand point, most would say evil is a culturally created, man made concept. Natural selection for example, doesn't distinguish between right and wrong. It simply "picks" which attributes will best provide the best fitness (survival and reproduction) for said organism; whether it turns out to be good or bad, ultimately is left up to the organism(if it possesses an advanced form of complex thinking, to evaluate their own actions).
Then there's of course external, or cultural forces at work. Has morality been imbedded into us, to the point where it's detrimental to our survival to be able to not only distinguish between the two (good v bad), but reprimand those who commit evil acts? Not unfeasible, if you give it time, for say a psychological mechanism to evolve and evil, or what would constitute evil characteristics, to be accepted on a universal level by humanity. So in summation, can pure evil exist? Yes, but evil and its existence will likely be limited to our own species (another organism may view our actions with little thought as to whether it is evil or not; simply because they are not aware of the concept).

Only thing that comes close is a diagnosable sociopath. Unable to empathize with others, a master manipulator, and sometimes scary smart...as close as it gets IMO
