A lot of African, Subcontinent, Native American and Asian scripts have long been accepted as myths and legends.

Contrasting that is their Semitic counter parts running rampant in the world. Christianity, Islam and Judaism. Powerful and cooperative countries are built on these religion. Unlike the former these religions form parts of laws etc

* Judges in courts internationally have Christian oaths
* There are Islamic countries
* Israel is built on Judaism
Etc

My question is then: are there anyone taking these scriptures literally today and if not why aren't they regarded as myths as well?

you forgot Hinduism

Ithink parts of Hinduism are accepted as Myths and Legends. Even Tibet(Buddhism) I am sure doesn't believe Sidharta lived with a grain of rice per day.
