Luffy is the main character, the man who is going to whoop all the Yonko and become Pirate King and he acknowledged that without his crew he would've died a long time ago. Yonko's are only feared because of their crews, it has little to do with their actual fighting ability, they're not any stronger than admirals but that is a different discussion for a different time.
And I'm saying it's not a one way street. Just because they're mentioned more than others doesn't make them more relevant than others. Also Luffy lives for his crew, they're more important to him than his goal.
