I told him to watch the subbed version of DN. I don't think he cares at all about the voices (he just wants a thrilling series with an amazing plot) even though I heard that the dubbed version is better.

Eh, subs are kinda distracting, anyways, so just have him stick with dubs (some of the best series actually have great dubs, anyways).

Hmm, my favorite series right now is Steins;Gate, which is a pretty strong thriller, so try recommending that to him. Otherwise, Bebop is pretty much the go-to gateway series, so if he doesn't get into that, I'm not sure what to say.

What types of film genres and stuff is he into, by the way? That could be an issue, too.

Some people just don't like animes or mangas. I would stop trying to force him into that. If you try too hard, he maybe just will block and say to all animes 'mehh...it's bad'. The fact he liked DBZ says nothing. I know many people who liked it, but don't watch any other animes.

But if he is okay with that and wants you to show him some more animes/mangas, you could first ask what kind of anime he would like to see. Let him choose...and then watch it with him, even if you don't know that anime well. I was thinking of an anime like Breaking Bad, but it's hard to find something as good as BB. It would also be helpful to know, how old he is. Maybe try animes with sports...

Well he didn't specify about what type of genres he was interested in. Like I said before, he doesn't care about it as long as the anime(s) I show to him captivates him into watching more. Though, I can tell you he dislikes the whole "superhero" notion (he doesn't like movies like Man of Steel).
