Is there a significance to the whole Rasengan vs Chidori clash?

Chidori pierces the Rasengan resulting in an explosion.

Idk, but shouldn't Naruto's Rasengan overpower Sasuke's chidori since wind>lighting, or am I wrong in thinking this?

The only wind style rasengan is rasen shuriken, a standard rasengan has no wind in it.

Normal rasengan has no elemental affinity.

And Naruto could do his Wind Element Rasengan but I don't think he wants to hurt Sasuke or damage his cells.

No, the normal Rasengan is not based on any nature of the five, unlike the Chidori. :y :D

Chidori makes the Rasengan go boom. Those two moves were like their signature jutsu.

As far as I know, there is no particular significance aside from the fact that they are the rival's two signature moves.

Rasengan isn't a wind style jutsu. it is made up of pure chakra, Rasen shuriken is wind style, yes, but rasengan, no

Maybe it's to show the relationship between naruto and sasuke. Rasengan is usually a nonlethal move so naruto is using to save his friend while chidori is lethal so it is used for sasuke to sever the relationship he has with naruto. So maybe nonlethal is to protect and save while lethal is to sever or to break. But the clash between them does look pretty cool.
