Are they really called fillers? Does Studio Pierrot label them as fillers?

Or mad fans label episodes not in the manga as fillers?

Im just curious because i don't think the studio say fillers. More like anime only episodes

In Japan the studio calls the fillers "original story".

No, it's a fan-made term, but even Pierrot will immediately understand what that word means.

It is official and it is not made up by fans. It's just that fans use it a lot, but "filler" is an actual definition in a dictionary; meaning something to add in a space, gap etc. to make a whole.

You can use the word "filler" for anything related to adding something extra. E.g. There is too much filler in this magazine.

Extra information (episodes) is being added that is not part of the original story (Manga). That extra information is filling in sections of the original story, therefore filler.
