Well this week there was an argument between my classmates and it was about the term "Paki". For those of you that don't know Paki means Pakistani.
Basically some people thought of the term as derogatory and not to be used while others just thought of it as an abbreviation and not offensive in the slightest.

What do you think of it, offensive or abbreviation ?

depends on the context...if it was used to be an insult yes I'd think that would be offensive.

good question prince harry was in english newspapers about calling his mate in the army 'paki' when he was from pakistan but the person didn't find it offensive as it was his nickname. but the papers thought it was wrong to say it.

Of course it's an insult, and anybody that argues against that is misinformed or a racist.

It's like the n word, sometimes when used in a certain contexts it's okay, like between a bunch of black friends, but if used as an insult it's of course derogatory. And that is because of the history of the word. Research it, it's quite harsh.

In England this is very offensive.... In the 70's and 80's the term was used a lot and asian people were beaten and sometimes killed just for being from pakistan.... It's pretty much the asian version of the N word for black people

hahaha one my friends called his friend a paki yesterday :lmao: he didn't take any offense to it xd

Also there aren't really any middle easterners where I live and I assume you live in Europe and I assume its more offensive there so I've heard because there is animosity between Native Europeans and Middle Eastern immigrants

Any slang term that is used to describe someone based on their skin color or birthplace is usually rude.

To me is sounds like an abbreviation, like calling someone a Brit or an Aussie. There's much more offensive things to call someone, on a scale of 1 to 10, it's a 1

A friend of mine who is Pakistani gets offended by that word but there are others who don't give a sh*t so it is really a matter of individuals.
