The Last is being considered canon but it's not in the manga. Canon material is what Kishi says is canon, OP might have thought Kishi considered them canon to the story.

I see where you're coming from, but there are some things floating out there that say Kishimoto was involved in the story for this. If the OP read the same things I did it's a legit question.
